Villa Havu

Villa Havu is the dream home for its residents. The surfaces were chosen to be as durable as possible due to everyday life of a family with children. In addition to the frame and surface materials, Villa Havu's domesticity can also be seen in the fixed furniture, stone surfaces, loose furniture, curtains, sound system, art and beds.

A DREAM HOME FOR A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN

Villa Havu is a home for a family of four in Loviisa’s Kuningattarenranta. The beautiful home is meant for permanent living as well as leisure, so there is no need for a cottage.

Kuningattarenranta's buildings are placed on the plot precisely next to the trees and protected boulders. The yard is lit without a glare and only in the passage areas, highlighting the quarries. The beach is left with a flat area of grass and a coastal meadow, which the sea can flood.

”We fell in love with the south-facing seaside plot with its boulders, where the services of a small city are nearby and the capital is only an hour drive away. The project as a whole has been heavy but very instructive, and the end result is rewarding. This home fulfills all of our dreams regarding living.” Says the resident of Villa Havu.

In Loviisa, the family was attracted by e.g. the beautiful, old architecture and proximity to the capital.

"Loviisa is a small, friendly town by the sea near the capital. The beautiful, old architecture is also enchanting."

A MODERN LOG HOUSE

Villa Havu is the dream home for its residents. The surfaces were chosen to be as durable as possible due to everyday life of a family with children. In addition to the frame and surface materials, Villa Havu's domesticity can also be seen in the fixed furniture, stone surfaces, loose furniture, curtains, sound system, art and beds.

"I wanted to present the know-how, innovation and craftsmanship of Finnish companies in the project. A good example of these is the fully made-to-order fixed furniture manufactured at Saari-keittiö's own factory in Finland, as well as the challenging stone cuts done by Louhi Stones on all surfaces of the house as well as the sinks. Domestic companies from Timberwise to Hollolan Viilu ja Laminaatti used their factories in Finland and manufactured products for the project that they did not previously have in their selections. It’s been inspiring to follow the innovative efforts of the whole team, which is the essential detail why I am particularly proud of the project", says Laura Seppänen from LS Design Agency, who designed the interior for the project.

The interior of Villa Havu is an interpretation of a modern log house by designer Laura Seppänen. Modernity is often tied to clean, sharp lines, a sparse color palette and minimalist design thinking. However, Laura wanted to show that even a space covered in wood throughout can be modern and that even a modern space can be warm, cozy and rich in materials.

DROP S OUTDOOR SPA WAS SELECTED FOR THE SAUNA TERRACE

A Drop spa was embedded in the sauna terrace next to a protected boulder. The spa has a wonderful view of the sea and the old town of Loviisa. The glass railing surrounding the terrace and the spa also protects from the autumn wind and cold winter weather.

”In our opinion, Drop definitely has the most beautiful spas on the market in terms of design.”
